If you had told me twenty years ago that Jesse Ventura would be one of my favorite political commentators, I would have worried for my future sanity, but he is; make of it what you will.
In the above video Jesse discusses the merits of waterboarding and torture with the cast of The View; not a favorite show of mine, but I do give them credit for at least showcasing several viewpoints. It’s like the McGlaughlin Group for housewives who care enough to argue over politics, but not enough to do any research. Jesse shows his mental wrestling skills to be superior to his physical ones.
And if someone had told me just a few years ago that I would actually be listening to what Jesse Ventura had to say, I’d be questioning my future sanity as well. When he started spouting his condemnations of the political establishment some years ago, I thought he was crazy, which of course is what the MSM continues to tell. But when I started actually listening to what he had to say, and not the way he said it, I found myself agreeing with him more times than not.
Spouting doesn’t always make you wrong. I think he was just so used to giving all of his speeches in his underwear standing on the ropes waving a folding chair over his head that he never really got the whole speaking in a small room thing.
He does have a couple of very solid points in here. If waterboarding is a valid method of interrogation, why don’t we use it on our own criminals? Why do we only waterboard Muslims? What has possessed the Republicans to go after Pelosi on this? Every bit of guilt they manage to tack on her will come back on them tenfold.
True about Pelosi, but all this is saving the Republicans’ hides. All the pressure is on Pelosi and Co. and their complicity right now. We haven’t heard about the torture and memos or the photos in days. The Republicans want to keep the heat off themselves and it’s working.
I’m not so sure. The deeper Republicans dig into what Pelosi knew, the more they reveal of what they did. I’ve known Pelosi was dirty ever since she supported the Patriot act. I wouldn’t mind seeing her fall, but I think the Republican party is chomping on its own tail. She won’t lose any more than her reputation out of this. If they had anything solid they wouldn’t be manufacturing outrage that she would dare question the CIA’s veracity. Keep in mind who has been running the CIA in recent decades: Cheney and Bush 1. No one is above question, and everyone covered their ass. The Republican party is scrabbling at her ankle in an attempt to drag her down with them. If they succeed they merely install a new Democratic speaker.
